Popular South African actress Angel Zuma has reportedly dumped Umkhokha: The Curse for a role in the internationally acclaimed musical drama, The Lion King.
The actress plays the role of Nomkhosi, the wife of Khulekani Mthembu on the SA soapie, but going international was a dream that has finally come true.
According to Zimoja, a source confirmed the event: “My friend has always wanted to go and work abroad. You don’t miss an opportunity of working in a production like The Lion King. It is every actors dream.”
The producers were reportedly not happy as they were not ready to lose her, and are not in search of a replacement.
“They wanted to see more of her on the show because she performs it with aplomb,” said source.
“I am not sure how they are going to play out this one because she did not leave under a cloud. She might come back and shoot her exit scenes properly,” said an insider.
