Rwandese Businessman Shot Dead in Harare Home Invasion
In a shocking development, Samuel Habimana, a Rwandese businessman residing in Harare, was tragically shot dead during a home invasion by armed robbers.
The incident occurred at Habimana’s residence in Mainway Meadows, Waterfalls.
Brazen Robbery Turns Deadly: Armed Gang Targets Samuel Habimana, Resulting in a Tragic Shooting
According to police reports, Habimana, who owned a fleet of 10 30-tonne trucks and a grocery shop in central Harare, arrived home with his wife at 9:30 PM. They sent their 28-year-old housekeeper to retrieve groceries from the car. The housekeeper quickly ran back inside, reporting that she had seen four men peering over the perimeter wall.
Shortly thereafter, the four-man gang used a crowbar to force their way through the locked kitchen door.
In the ensuing chaos, one of the robbers fired a single shot that struck Habimana in the neck, causing him to collapse. The robbers then searched Habimana’s trouser pockets, taking an unknown amount of cash.
Robbers Flee with Cash, Phone, and Shop Keys
The gang proceeded to demand money from Habimana’s 42-year-old wife, who handed over US$60, explaining that they did not keep large sums of money at home. The robbers also seized her mobile phone, keys to the grocery shop, and the digital video recorder for the CCTV system before fleeing the scene.
Authorities Launch Manhunt Following Fatal Shooting
Police are actively investigating the incident, and no arrests have been made yet. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crime to come forward to aid in the swift capture of the perpetrators. The shocking violence has left the local community in fear
