The body was discovered in one of the rooms at the recently completed Bulawayo Students Accommodation Complex (BSAC) adjacent to the institution’s main campus along the Bulawayo-Gwanda Road.

According to eyewitnesses, the body was found in a state of advanced decomposition and the room, located in one of the hostel’s blocks, was locked from the inside. Authorities are yet to conduct an autopsy to also determine when the student died.

A video that has since gone viral on Zimbabwean social media shows a ZRP officer and some of the university’s auxiliary staff carrying the decomposed body in a metal coffin and loading it into a police pickup truck. They all wore masks because of the pungent stench from the decomposing body. Eyewitnesses stood close by, some on the hostel balcony, to see the heart rending incident.

Bester:

“May his soul rest in eternal peace. Students please check on each other at school. People are going through so much in this environment. With no proper guidance, they end up like this over issues that only needed counseling.”
