The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the apprehension of a 30-year-old woman in connection with the alleged beating of her 10-month-old baby. The incident occurred in Temberere Village, Zimunya, Mutare, on October 11, 2024.

Arrest of the woman beating her baby in viral video
After the video went viral, the woman was apprehended by private investigator Tafadzwa Chidawa and his team. The woman was questioned in a video posted, and she claimed that the father of the child ran away from his responsibility.
The woman whose video was circulating whilst flogging a child with a thick stick is now in Police Custody.

The investigator asked if she was punishing the child because her father was not paying maintenance, which she refused. She stated that she was only telling the child to crawl. The child in question also does not have a birth certificate, as her father refused to register his child.

At the time of her arrest, the child had not been examined at any hospital for injuries. Recently, several people have been arrested after videos of them assaulting others trended on social media. Chidawa and his team have also actively apprehended most of the perpetrators.
