Wicknell Chivayo Pledges US$10K for 4-Year-Old Girl’s Heart Surgery

Flamboyant businessman Wicknell Chivayo, known for his extravagant gestures, has shifted his focus from gifting cars to saving lives after pledging to cover the US$10,000 needed for a 4-year-old girl to undergo life-saving heart surgery in India.

The Urgent Appeal

Chivayo stepped in after prominent journalist and anti-corruption activist Hopewell Chin’ono shared the family’s plea on social media. Chin’ono’s post on X (formerly Twitter) detailed the girl’s critical condition:

“Manase, a 4-year-old, is reaching out with a heartfelt request for funding. Diagnosed with heart failure in May 2024 by Dr David at Marina Paediatric Hospital in Botswana, she was referred to Dr. Machawira a heart surgeon, who stressed that her condition can only be treated in India. The surgery there will cost $10,000. Your compassionate support could be the lifeline she desperately needs.”

The journalist urged his followers to spread the word in hopes of finding a Good Samaritan.

Wicknell Chivayo Pledges to Fund 4-Year-Old Girl’s Heart Surgery

Moved by the appeal, Chivayo quickly responded in the comments, stating that he was willing to pay the full amount needed for Manase’s surgery. He instructed the girl’s family to contact his legal team to expedite the process.

“For the first time I agree and will support what @daddyhope has posted. I am willing to pay the whole 10 thousand USD directly to the Doctor or Hospital in India. Please get them to contact my lawyer Sikhumbuzo Mpofu at Mnangate & Associates and he will do the needful immediately. God bless ,” Chivayo said.
