Wicknell Chivayo Breaks His Silence on Car Gifts for DJ Levels, Xtra Large, and TiGonzi
Flamboyant businessman Wicknell Chivayo has finally put to rest speculation on whether or not he will give Chillspot producer DJ Levels a car.
A section of Zimbabweans had hoped that Chivayo would follow suit and present DJ Levels with a car, just as he did for his colleague and friend DJ Fantan.
During an interview on the Capitalk ‘The Champions League Breakfast’ show earlier this year, Chivayo explained his decision not to buy DJ Levels a car and hinted at a possible future gift of a US$25,000 Mercedes Benz C Class, pending DJ Fantan’s approval.
“I will hear from Fantan, maybe togona kumutengerawo ka C Class keUS$25K. Fantan was always visible at rallies, but Levels handina kumbomuona,” Wicknell said at the time.
Now, Wicknell Chivayo has firmly closed the door on any possibility of him telling DJ Levels the three popular words in Zimbabwe “Go see Victor…”
In response to an Instagram post by Chitown Ndokumba, Chivayo clarified that DJ Levels, along with yesteryear hitmakers Xtra Large, comedian Mzaya WeNyika, and TiGonzi, would not be receiving cars from him.
The Instagram page asked its followers about whom they thought should be the recipient of a car from Chivayo first.
“Who should go & see Victor,” Chitown Ndokumba captioned a collage of the four artists.
In the comments section, the page’s followers passionately debated and voiced their opinions on who they thought most deserved a car gift from the influential Zanu-PF-affiliated businessman. Chivayo chimed in on the comments, stating that none of these artists would receive a luxury car from him.
“Unfortunately, non of (the) above,” he wrote curtly.
This news comes as a disappointment for the Xtra Large duo, who recently joined the bandwagon of those begging Wicknell Chivayo for a car when they penned a lengthy letter to him on social media.
DJ Levels’ supporters were rallying for Chivayo to buy a car for Levels since DJ Fantan, who recently received a car from him, works closely with Levels behind the decks during Zanu PF rallies.
Chillspot Records, co-owned by DJ Fantan and DJ Levels, is known for nurturing young talent in Zimbabwe’s music scene.
While DJ Fantan was presented with a Mercedes Benz and cars for his wife and mother, his collaborator DJ Levels was notably absent from the list of recipients.
