Popular Mzansi gospel singer Winnie Mashaba recently faced criticism on social media for visiting the late Solly Moholo’s family in a helicopter.
Solomon Molokoane known as Solly Moholo fell ill following his performances in Botswana and passed away on Wednesday, 2 October at 65 years.
The gospel artist Winnie Mashaba took to X on Friday, 4 October to share photos and videos of herself visiting Solly Moholo’s home in a private plane.
“My trip to Malome Solly Moholo’s home. When Mama saw me, she said ngwanaka (my child) I’m happy you are here. The spark in her eyes.”
“As I shamelessly continue to mourn my mentor and father in the music industry. Continue to rest in eternal peace,” she wrote.
However, Mashaba faced criticism and was accused of flaunting her wealth when she visited Moholo’s family in a private plane.
South Africans also questioned her intentions and said she should have prioritised providing financial support for Moholo’s medical expenses. This comes after the 65-year-old’s family called for donations totalling R700 000 to cover his medical bills.

@bad_option88 says: “I hope u contributed when they asked for donations.”
The award-winning gospel star Winnie Mashaba also recently took to social media to pay tribute to her long-time mentor, Solly Moholo.
“I was very young and clueless about the music industry. My mom handed me over to Malome Solly Moholo, he trained me and guided me throughout. It’s so painful to say Rest In Peace, Malome Solly. Until we meet again on the other side of the world,” she said.
Solly Moholo recently stated on The Venting Podcast earlier this year that he discovered the award-winning singer, Winnie Mashaba.
