ZANU PF MP’s Son Claims Setup in Road Rage Gun Incident – ‘I Was Framed!’

In a dramatic twist, Diaz Matangira, the son of Zanu PF MP Remigious Toendepi Matangira, has vehemently denied allegations that he pointed a firearm at an off-duty soldier during an alleged road rage incident.

The controversy centres around an alleged confrontation on Harare’s Lomagundi Road, where Matangira was reportedly involved in an altercation with Arnold Musengi, a soldier from the Special Air Services (SAS).

According to initial reports, Diaz Matangira, 30, was driving his father’s grey Ford Ranger Raptor when he encountered Musengi’s slow-moving Toyota Vitz.

Witnesses claim that Matangira, frustrated by the slow pace, aggressively overtook the Vitz. After the manoeuvre, Matangira is alleged to have pointed a gun at Musengi, prompting a pursuit and arrest.

This accusation led to Matangira’s arrest by Avondale Police.

However, this version of events is being vigorously contested. Sources close to the Matangira family have strenuously denied the allegations and offered a markedly different account.

According to the sources, Diaz Matangira did not point a firearm at anyone. They suggest that the entire incident may have been orchestrated to damage his father’s reputation.

These sources allege that Diaz was initially stopped by other motorists who were attempting to rob him.

Upon discovering that the vehicle belonged to ZANU-PF MP Remigious Toendepi Matangira, they realised Diaz was carrying a legally registered firearm. Despite the MP’s son not brandishing the firearm, they used it as an excuse to get him arrested.

The source suggests that the incident may have been a deliberate attempt to tarnish the reputation of his father, the legislator for the Bindura South constituency.

Following his arrest by Avondale Police, Diaz Matangira is expected to appear in court soon.
