The Zanu PF Youth League has issued an official response to recent statements made by the controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo. Chivayo has been making headlines due to his alleged close ties to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his questionable business practices.
Donations and Allegations
While acknowledging the donations Chivayo has made to various community members, the Youth League emphasized their ignorance about the sources of his income. They made it clear that they will not tolerate any actions that tarnish the name of their revered leader for personal gain.
“As the vanguard of ZANU-PF, we will not just sit and watch the name of our most revered leader being tarnished by such malcontents for their own self-aggrandizement,” the statement read.
Clarification on the Bulawayo Airport Video
The Youth League also addressed a video that has been circulating, which shows members of the League at Bulawayo Airport with Chivayo. They clarified that the video gave a false impression of them welcoming Chivayo. In reality, the Youth League members were at the airport awaiting the arrival of the President, who was scheduled to attend the 2024 Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF).
Wicknell Chivayo’s Response
Earlier today, Wicknell Chivayo released a statement distancing himself from the viral voice notes that have been linked to him. He claimed that these voice notes were generated using advanced technology and not his own words.
