The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) has reinstated Farai Magada who was suspended together with Victoria Manase in January 2024.
The pair was suspended after they made comments about King Lobengula, a 19th Century Ndebele monarch live on air when they were presenting Good Morning Zimbabwe (GMZ).
Victoria Manase claimed that King Lobengula sold the country’s mineral resources to the British Imperialist for sugar in which Co-host Farai Magada then added that colonialism was justified to some extent as they could now “sit in front of cameras and wear proper clothes, not animal skins”.
The Standard reported a source saying Magada had been retained but moved to Classic 263 radio station. The source was quoted saying, “Magada is back, but she has been reassigned to Classic 263 while Manase has left the organization since she was a part-time presenter”.
Magada went for a disciplinary hearing and was given a written warning.
