Zimbabwe Coach Michael Nees Hails Warriors’ Fighting Spirit in Narrow Loss to Cameroon
Zimbabwe Warriors coach Michael Nees has expressed pride in his team despite their 2-1 defeat to Cameroon.
The Warriors were defeated by Cameroon in the final Group J match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers held in Yaoundé on Tuesday.
Nees Praises Team’s Character
Reflecting on the performance, Michael Nees highlighted the resilience of his squad, emphasizing their determination and unity. Speaking to Soccer24 after the game, he said:
“We played them [Cameroon] two times, one draw and the other one we lost by just one goal under very difficult circumstances. You saw the character of our team. Honestly, I am very proud of them.”
Michael Nees commended the team for maintaining cohesion and focus despite the challenging circumstances, adding:
Not only the players but everybody around the team pulled in one direction. We were a clear unit. The two-goal deficit gave Cameroon the confidence they needed, but we showed we could compete at a high level.”
