The Zimbabwe Warriors have received a significant boost ahead of their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Namibia, with European clubs confirming the availability of key players. Derby County and Motherwell FC have given the green light for Tawanda Chirewa and Tawanda Maswanhise to join the national team for the back-to-back Group J games scheduled for October 10 and 14.
Derby County took to social media to confirm Chirewa’s availability, stating that the forward will link up with the Warriors during the international break. “Jacob Zetterström and Tawanda Chirewa will link up with @SvenskFotboll and @Online_Zifa respectively during the next international break,” the English Championship side posted.
Motherwell FC also confirmed Maswanhise’s call-up to the Warriors squad, wishing their player success on international duty. “Our Warrior is off on international duty. Tawanda Maswanhise is in the latest Zimbabwe squad,” the Scottish Premier League club tweeted.
The availability of Chirewa and Maswanhise is a welcome development for the Warriors, who will be seeking to maximize points against Namibia. With these key players on board, Zimbabwe will look to strengthen their position in Group J and edge closer to AFCON qualification.
