The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of two officers for taking bribes following a viral video.
Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said this in a statement shared in the ZRP X handle. The arrest comes after a video circulated online showing two police officers collecting bribes from kombis and pirate taxis.

The Blatant Corruption At Mabvuku Turnoff
The two cops operated from Mabvuku turnoff.
In a video making rounds on social media, one of the cops in a helmet and police jacket was having a chat with a kombi conductor who gave him some money before rushing to his omnibus. The person filming the corruption revealed that he noticed the police taking bribes from over 10 pirate taxis and kombis.
The two cops, standing on either sides of the lane, would stop the vehicles and the conductors or drivers would run to them, silently hand then the money and vanish in seconds.

ZRP Arrest Two Police Officers For Taking Bribes
Commissioner Paul Nyathi disclosed the names of the cops and said they have since been arrested:
“Reference is made to the viral social media post which clearly showed two police officers on a Zimbabwe Republic Police motorbike taking bribes from private kombis, taxis and registered public service vehicles along Harare-Mutare Road, Mabvuku turnoff.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police informs the public that Sergeant Chifamba and Constable Gunzva have been arrested and are now in detention. They are facing both disciplinary and criminal charges. These are bad apples who do not deserve to be serving the Police Service.
“The Commissioner-General of Police does not condone corruption by any police officer and will ensure that the law takes its course without fear or favour.”
