The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of the seven people who perished in an accident along the Harare-Bulawayo Road yesterday.
The tragic road crash occurred in the early hours of 8 December, 2024, at about 3:30 AM at the 330-kilometre peg along the Harare-Bulawayo Road.
ZRP Releases Names Of Harare-Bulawayo Road Accident Victims
Seven people died on the spot, while 21 others sustained injuries when an Inter Africa bus with 43 passengers on board rammed into the back of a Freightliner haulage truck with no passengers on board.
The bodies of people who died following the accident were ferried to the Gweru Provincial Hospital mortuary, while those injured were also admitted for medical treatment at the same hospital.
The ZRP provided an update and revealed that of the 22 injured passengers, six were treated and discharged, while the remaining 16 are still at the Gweru Provincial Hospital.
The police also released the names of five of the victims:

- Manyise Madubeko (45), a male adult of 4th Street, Bulawayo
- Ncube Sinqobile (430, a female adult of Xanti Village, Esigodini
- Muchemwa Matienga (62), a male adult of Lasper Road, Harrisvale, Bulawayo
- Mafukidze Edmen Collin (39), a male adult of Overspill, Epworth

“The other two victims are yet to be identified by their next of kin.“
One Dead In Another Early Morning Crash
The ZRP also reported that the driver of a Nissan pick-up vehicle was killed on 8 December 2024 at about 1:30 AM at the 72 km peg along the Harare-Wedza Road:
“The driver of a Nissan pick-up vehicle was killed while the passenger was injured when the vehicle veered off the road before hitting a stationary Scania truck with three passengers on board.“
