Chinhoyi Mayor Owen Charuza and Driver Involved a Serious Car Accident Near Mapinga Escarpment
Chinhoyi Mayor Owen Charuza is lucky to be alive after surviving a car accident along the Harare-Chirundu highway.
Owen Charuza and his driver were involved in a serious road traffic collision near the Mapinga escarpment.
According to The Herald, the incident occurred on Monday morning. The Mayor and his driver were reportedly en route to Harare for council-related matters when the accident happened.

Confirmation from Council Spokesperson: Chinhoyi Mayor Charuza’s Car Accident Details Revealed
Tichaona Mlauzi, the spokesperson for Chinhoyi Town Council, has since confirmed the to accident.
The accident happened after the council-owned Nissan Hardbody vehicle they were travelling in was hit from behind by a haulage truck while yielding to a vehicle in front. The impact of the crash left both vehicles significantly damaged.
Mayor Charuza Injured: Rushed to Mutorashanga Clinic for Medical Treatment
Mayor Charuza sustained injuries to his hand, chest, and neck. He was promptly rushed to Mutorashanga Clinic for medical treatment. The extent of his injuries and current condition have not been disclosed.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the accident to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision near the Mapinga escarpment.
Separate Incident: Police Seek Information on Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident in Buhera
In a separate accident, the Police in Buhera are appealing for information which may assist in the investigation of a fatal hit and run road traffic accident which happened on the 5th of April 2024.
The yet to be identified man (56) died on the spot after being hit by an unknown motorist at the 111 kilometre peg along Chivhu –Nyazura Road,near Chizema Bus Stop.
According to the police report, the motorist did not stop after the accident.
