Zimbabwean Scientist Dr Fortune Gomo Killed in Scotland
Zimbabwean scientist Dr Fortune Gomo was killed in Scotland after she was stabbed on a street in Dundee.
Scientist Found Fatally Injured on Dundee Street
Dr Fortune Gomo, 39, was discovered injured on South Road in the city’s Lochee area on Saturday afternoon. Paramedics treated her at the scene, but she tragically succumbed to her injuries shortly after.
Dr Gomo, originally from Mutare in eastern Zimbabwe, had completed her PhD at Dundee University and had recently started working for Scottish Water.

Embassy Vows Support and Justice
The Zimbabwean embassy in the UK issued a statement on Monday night confirming that Dr Gomo had been fatally stabbed.
Officials said an embassy team had been dispatched to Dundee to engage with Scottish authorities and to support her immediate family.
The statement added:
“The team will ensure that Zimbabwean citizens are treated with dignity and that justice is pursued diligently.”
20-Year-Old Suspect Remanded in Custody
Police arrested 20-year-old Kyler Rattray, from Dundee, shortly after the incident. He appeared in private before Dundee Sheriff Court charged with murder.
Rattray made no plea and was remanded in custody pending further proceedings.
Police Scotland said they believe there is no wider threat to the public.
