Tendayi Darikwa Appointed Lincoln City Captain After Standout Season
Lincoln City have appointed Tendayi Darikwa as their new club captain ahead of the 2024/25 League One season.
The announcement was made by the club on Thursday, rewarding Darikwa after an impressive debut campaign in which he won both the Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards.
Darikwa Shares Pride in Captaincy Announcement
Taking to his Instagram account, Tendayi Darikwa expressed his gratitude and excitement after being appointed Lincoln City captain.
“Immensely proud and honoured to be named captain of @lincolncity_fc, see you all soon 
,” he posted, sharing his enthusiasm with fans.

Tendayi Vows to Inspire Young Players
Speaking after being handed the armband, Darikwa expressed his commitment to setting high standards and supporting Lincoln City’s emerging talent.
“I try to do my best on the pitch, but around the Elite Performance Centre and at games I try to give my advice to some of the younger players to help them make the most of their careers,” he said.
Tendayi believes the squad has the right blend to compete strongly this season.
“We’ve got a good mix of youth and experience, and the young lads have played a lot of football. We showed towards the end of last season that we’re capable of going up against anyone.”
Leadership Credentials Recognised
Before joining Lincoln City, Darikwa captained Wigan Athletic to the League One title, cementing his reputation as a natural leader in English football.
Lincoln City head coach Michael Skubala praised Darikwa’s influence on and off the pitch.
“Tendayi wears the badge with pride and shows every day what he’s about with his attitude to training and how he sets standards on and off the pitch,” Skubala said.
Skubala added that Darikwa is respected, humble, and loved by the fans.
“He is really respected within the group and has the humility to understand there are other leaders in the group alongside him. I also know how much Ten loves the club and the fans love him,” he said.
