Eskom says no load shedding this week

South Africans will enter another week of no power cuts, with Sunday marking the 18th consecutive day of uninterrupted power supply.

The utility has attributed the suspended load shedding to the sustained availability of generation capacity.

Eskom spokesperson, Daphne Mokwena: “A total of 2,150MW of generation capacity is planned to be restored by Monday. Eskom will provide an update on Wednesday afternoon or promptly communicate any significant changes should they occur.”

Last week, the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) approved guidelines of implementing load shedding up to stage 16 but Eskom said there was no looming danger that could see the power cuts being escalated at this stage.
