Senior Engineering Lead – Servicing and Operations IT

Old Mutual invites applications for the role of Senior Engineering Lead – Servicing & Operations IT (API). This is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving API development for Old Mutual’s core Policy Administration platform.

As a key leader in the Servicing & Operations IT team, you will oversee end-to-end API architecture, design, development, and orchestration. This role is ideal for a results-oriented software engineering expert with a minimum of 10 years in software development and at least 3 years in a leadership capacity. You will manage cross-functional teams across regions, both offshore and onshore, while ensuring high-quality, scalable API solutions.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading API development and integration projects aligned with digital strategy.

  • Managing software engineering teams and mentoring talent.

  • Overseeing project delivery using Agile and DevOps practices.

  • Collaborating with business and technology stakeholders to implement and optimize digital products.

  • Managing vendor and third-party service relationships.

  • Budgeting, resource planning, and talent development within your unit.

  • Driving performance management and strategic execution of transformation projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (NQF Level 9).

  • Deep technical proficiency in API frameworks, CI/CD, cloud platforms, and microservices.

  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and PMP certification is an added advantage.
