According to a statement released by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) on Tuesday, the incident occurred between May 10 and May 13, 2024. The court heard that Ncube took advantage of a system error that allowed mobile money transfers without deducting the corresponding amounts from accounts. She carefully executed multiple transactions, each below the ZWG2,400 transaction limit, to avoid detection. NetOne has since fixed the glitch. Out of the ZWG136 442 stolen, only ZWG112,042 was recovered.
