A 38-year-old man from Mapinga, identified as Lloyd Banda, has been brought before the Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court on charges of attempted murder. The incident allegedly occurred on October 24, 2024, around 8:00 AM, at a site located on Tramore Farm.
According to court reports, the incident unfolded while the accused, Banda, and the complainant, a 24-year-old man, were washing chrome ore. During their work, Banda allegedly instructed the younger man to hand over his belt, claiming he needed it. The complainant refused to comply, explaining that the belt belonged to his brother.
This refusal reportedly angered Banda, leading him to react violently. Seemingly without warning, Banda picked up a knife from the ground and allegedly stabbed the complainant on the right side of his stomach. The complainant sustained a deep cut from the attack, which required medical attention.
