His latest run-in with the law allegedly involved a collaboration with a police officer and three other individuals

According to the court records seen by H- Metro, Since Asima, a police officer stationed at CID Headquarters, along with Innocent Chikakayi, Precious Vafana, and Brian Tomudaishe Kaseke, conspired with Ishmael Austin in the criminal activities.

The gang’s primary target was Wishteck Motors Car Rental, represented by hiring officer Saunders Chiza.

In a carefully orchestrated plan, Austin and his accomplices collaborated with Batsirai Mhungu, who has already appeared in court, to execute their theft scheme targeting the car rental company. Their method involved renting a white Nissan X-trail, with one member of the gang using fake credentials under the alias of Kenneth Change to sign the hiring contract.

Modus Operandi Unveiled: Gang Poses as Fake Hirer, Forges Documents to Steal Vehicles

The gang had agreed to return the rented vehicle by March 3 of this year but failed to do so. To cover their tracks, they created a counterfeit registration book and sold the stolen car to an unwitting buyer, Cosmo Chirombo, for a sum of US$8000.

However, their illicit activities did not go unnoticed for long.

Extensive Operation: Ten Stolen Cars, Including a Nissan X-trail, Recovered; Gang Faces Bail Hearing

Wishteck Motors Car Rental promptly discovered the offense and reported it to the police, leading to a thorough investigation that resulted in the arrest of the gang.

Thanks to the intervention of law enforcement, not only was the stolen Nissan X-trail recovered but also nine other vehicles linked to Austin and his associates were found, exposing the magnitude of their operation.
