A 44-year-old Brazilian woman was apprehended by the South African Police Service (SAPS) intelligence unit at OR Tambo International Airport on Thursday afternoon. The woman, who had arrived from Sao Paulo, Brazil, was found to be in possession of cocaine valued at R1.9 million.
Upon investigation, authorities discovered that the cocaine was cleverly concealed around the woman’s upper body. The SAPS intelligence unit, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, has been working tirelessly to combat drug trafficking and other illicit activities at the airport.
The arrested woman is expected to face charges related to drug trafficking. The SAPS has commended the intelligence unit for their vigilance and swift action in apprehending the suspect.
