Cape Town beachgoers urged to swim in demarcated areas

The City of Cape Town is urging holidaymakers and beachgoers to listen to the officials deployed at its recreational facilities.

The appeal comes as more people are expected to visit the Metro’s swimming amenities over the school holidays.

The City is urging beachgoers to swim in demarcated areas when lifeguards are on duty.

It’s appealing to the visitors to be cautious of rip currents and avoid swimming while under the influence of alcohol.

Parents are also reminded to always monitor the movements of their children.

The municipality says it has recruited over 240 lifeguards ahead of the summer season to help prevent drowning incidents.
