Cape Winelands District Municipality urges motorists to be cautious amid raging fire

The Cape Winelands District Municipality is urging motorists to practice caution on the Du Toit’s Kloof Pass near the Du Kloof Hotel in Paarl, where a fire is raging on the mountain.

The municipality’s spokesperson Jo-Anne Otto says nine fire vehicles and crews supported by three ground teams are currently battling the blaze.

“The fire is burning in old veld and is under close monitoring. As a precautionary measure, fire services are actively protecting a few small structures in the area. All roads are currently open and traffic is flowing freely.”

Otto urged motorists to avoid hindering fire vehicles on the road and follow instructions from traffic officials.
