Peter Dube, who was recently extradited from Mozambique, made his first court appearance, where he stands accused before the Gweru Magistrates Court, facing two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
Charges against Peter Dube in court appearance
According to allegations presented in court, Dube is said to have fatally shot Shelton Chiduku with a Zastara pistol, tragically ending his life. This tragic incident occurred on April 22, 2022, at Bensam Flats along Main Street in Gweru. The altercation leading to the fatal shooting reportedly erupted after Dube accused Shelton Chiduku of engaging in an affair with his second wife, Nyasha Nharingo.
Following the fatal shooting of Shelton Chiduku, Dube allegedly proceeded to shoot Gamuchirai Mudungwe, resulting in another tragic loss of life. The accused then reportedly made his way to 11 Bensam Flats, where he targeted Nyasha Nharingo, inflicting serious injuries. Nyasha Nharingo sustained a gunshot wound to her right cheek, with the bullet causing further damage as it travelled through her neck and shoulder.
Despite the violence unleashed by Dube, some of the victims managed to survive. Nyasha Nharingo, after receiving medical treatment, was discharged from Gweru Provincial Hospital. Similarly, Nyaradzo Nharingo, Dube’s sister-in-law, survived the ordeal after being treated for injuries sustained above her left ear, which resulted in the loss of her left eye.
