Amidst a birthday celebration for one of his classmates, an eight-year-old boy, Tinaye Chibaya dies after sustaining grave injuries from being dragged by horses in Ruwa on Easter Saturday.
Tinaye, a vibrant young student, was among the children invited to a birthday celebration for a school friend. The jubilant occasion, hosted at Bushman Rock Safaris in Ruwa, turned into a nightmare when a series of unexpected events unfolded.
Accompanied by his parents, banker Brian Chibaya and Memory Tsveture Chibaya, Tinaye embarked on what was supposed to be a joyous outing. Little did they know that tragedy lurked just around the corner.

The horse ride that took an innocent life
As part of the festivities, the children were offered the opportunity to partake in horse riding activities, a seemingly innocent pastime that took a devastating turn.
According to eyewitnesses, chaos ensued when a giraffe’s sudden movement startled the horses, sending them into a panic. Amidst the commotion, Tinaye found himself in a precarious situation, unable to break free from the horse he was riding.
Despite the frantic efforts of bystanders, Tinaye’s leg became ensnared in the saddle, rendering him vulnerable as the horse bolted away. Tragically, Tinaye was dragged along the rough terrain, his head colliding with rocks and stones, inflicting fatal injuries.
Heartbreakingly, despite the desperate attempts to save him, Tinaye succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a community engulfed in sorrow.

As the family prepares to lay Tinaye to rest in Masvingo, an air of disbelief hangs heavy over their home in Waterfalls.
Despite attempts by H-Metro to reach out to authorities at Bushman Rock Safaris for comment, no response has been forthcoming, leaving many questions unanswered.
Meanwhile, friends and well-wishers have taken to online platforms to express their shock and extend their deepest condolences to the grieving family.
