In an interview with ZBC, Heskey revealed that he held talks with the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) to explore possible partnerships in areas such as coaching and youth development.

“My purpose was to meet with the FA, which we actually met with them. We just discussed different avenues that you can imagine with coaching and development, et cetera,” he said.

PSL Match at Rufaro Stadium Leaves a Lasting Impression

Speaking after attending the clash between Scottland FC and reigning champions Simba Bhora at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday, 11 May, Heskey said the game showed promise but still has room for growth. He pointed out one thing that stood out to him during the match between Scottland FC and reigning Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Simba Bhora.

“Managed to catch a game, which is good. I managed to speak to the coach. I think the level of the game is an interesting one. It’s still growing. The enthusiasm of the fans was exciting. That was the main thing, but the level of the game is still growing. I think you have got lots of players playing outside of Zim. So it’s gonna grow in that way, but it’s about developing on the ground as well,” Heskey explained.

After watching the match, Heskey highlighted the individual talent of some national team players, including Khama Billiat, saying they had plenty of skill and speed. However, he said they needed more tactical discipline and clear structures to fully flourish.

“Saw quite a few players that play for the national team, and they look interesting as well. A lot of skill. A lot of pace. But probably a bit more direction in structure, but they’re getting there. Like I said, things are not built in one day,” he added.
