Media watchdogs are slamming the SABC’s decision to ban the DA’s flag-burning ad.
The Campaign for Free Expression, Media Monitoring Africa, and the SOS issued a joint statement.
They say the public broadcaster is mandated to uphold freedom of speech and impartiality.
But, it says the banning is a clear and unjustifiable limitation on free expression.
The groups say the burning of the flag is deeply offensive, and has aggrieved many.
But, they insist It is in moments of disagreement that free speech must be protected.
