Wicknell Chivayo Donates US$250K To Joshua Nkomo Trust

Through his official social media channels, Chivayo announced the donation as a tribute to Dr. Nkomo’s enduring impact on Zimbabwe’s development. The funds will support the Trust’s educational programs, cultural preservation efforts, and community welfare initiatives that align with the late leader’s vision for national unity and progress.

“Father Zimbabwe’s influence continues to guide our nation,” Chivayo stated. “Each July 1st, we reflect on the extraordinary life of this freedom fighter who dedicated himself to empowering all Zimbabweans.”

The businessman highlighted Dr. Nkomo’s crucial role in Zimbabwe’s history, noting his leadership in merging ZANLA and ZIPRA forces and his instrumental part in establishing the 1987 Unity Accord. Chivayo praised the late vice president’s post-independence work in education reform, agricultural development, and support for war veterans.

“Umdala Wethu was more than a political leader – he was a unifying figure who championed equality and reconciliation,” Chivayo remarked.

Supporting Community Development

The substantial donation will be managed by the Joshua Nkomo Trust under the leadership of Thandi Nkomo, the late statesman’s eldest daughter. Chivayo expressed confidence that the funds would significantly advance the Trust’s mission to continue Dr. Nkomo’s humanitarian work.

“This contribution represents our commitment to preserving Dr. Nkomo’s vision for Zimbabwe,” Chivayo said. “We hope these resources will empower communities and inspire future generations.”
