Former Cape Town Human Settlements Mayco member Malusi Booi and nine of his co-accused are set to gain clarity on whether they will be granted bail on Tuesday or not.
The group has already appeared twice before Magistrate Alida Theart at the Cape Town Magistrates Court to apply for bail following their arrests last week.
They’re accused of being involved in a billion-rand tender fraud involving the city’s Human Settlements directorate.
The State alleges that during Booi’s tenure as head of human settlements in the metro, a racketeering scheme spearheaded by alleged 28s gang boss Ralph Stanfield was formed.
The State indicated that it won’t be opposing bail and asked the court to set the bail between R20,000 and R200,000.
It’s unclear if the court will grant bail for the group and at what amount.
On Friday, the magistrate asked to be given time to consider all the submissions made in the bail application before making her judgement.
