Controversial Limpopo rapper Shebeshxt bid farewell to his daughter, Onthatile Chuene, who was buried on Saturday, 22 June.
Shebeshxt lost his eight-year-old daughter during a car accident on the R37 road next to Smelters Mine in Limpopo on 8 June.
The musician was with his child, as well as her mother, Kholofelo Chuene, when his Volkswagen Polo crashed into a truck and overturned.
The Twerka hitmaker suffered a broken leg, abdominal fracture, and head injuries. He was sent to the Netcare Pholoso Hospital after allegedly being left unattended at a public hospital.
Meanwhile, Kholofelo was hospitalized as she sustained moderate injuries.
Onthatile was buried in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo, where friends and family gathered to bid her farewell.
Shebeshxt, who attended her funeral in a wheelchair, penned a touching note to her.
“You left a huge void in our hearts. I don’t think we will ever recover from this,” he said.
“We might seem strong, but deep down we wish we could wake up from this terrible nightmare and see your beautiful face and hear your wonderful voice saying, ‘Ke rata batswadi baka ka pelo ka moka’ (I love my parents wholeheartedly).”
According to Sunday World, the police have launched a culpable homicide investigation following the car crash.
The publication reports that the police have requested for statements from the musician’s family and partner.
Limpopo police provincial spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba said it was standard procedure to investigate what could have led to the accident.
“The police must adhere to legal protocols and pro- cedures while conducting their investigation to ensure that the rights of all parties involved are respected and that the investigation is conducted fairly and in accordance with the law,” he said.
