The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) assessed all the accidents that happened during the Easter holiday and discovered that most were caused by bad and reckless driving.

Posting on X, the police noted:

“A comprehensive analysis by the police has revealed that most accidents recorded during the Easter Holiday are attributed to speeding, inattention, misjudgement, overtaking error, and failure to observe road rules and regulations by drivers.”

The ZRP added that there were no major fatal road accidents and most involved private motor vehicles and pedestrians. Two pedestrians were run over in Bulawayo and Harare respectively.

One serious fatal road accident occurred along the Harare-Chirundu road when 14 people sustained injuries after an Andile Bus ferrying 19 passengers veered off the road and overturned before landing on its roof.
