16 People Seriously Injured In Another Seke Road Accident Involving Overloaded Sprinter

At least 16 people have been seriously injured in another harrowing road accident along Seke Road, this time involving an overloaded Sprinter near Chinhamo Bridge.

The vehicle, believed to be an 18-seater commuter omnibus, was headed towards Harare from Chitungwiza when it reportedly burst a tyre and veered off the road. The crash occurred just a few kilometres from Manyame Bridge—the same stretch where 17 lives were lost in a separate accident last week.

“Seke Road Is Now An Accident Hotspot”

Social media exploded with reactions shortly after the accident.

Posting on X, user Street Hustler_Gri7zmann described the terrifying scene:

“Seke road is now becoming an accident hotspot, moving at 1 accident per day. Overloaded Sprinter, tyre burst, driver lost control, kombi yarohwawo necross. No death recorded yet, multiple injured especially standing passengers.”

Eyewitnesses said the vehicle was carrying more passengers than its legal capacity. Many of those seriously injured were reportedly standing.

“16 Rushed To Chitungwiza Hospital”

The Sunday Mail confirmed the scale of the accident, posting:

“16 people who were travelling in this 18-seater commuter omnibus have been rushed to Chitungwiza Central Hospital following an accident that occurred along Seke Road near Chinhamo Service Station this morning.”

Concerns Grow Over Public Transport Safety

According to ZBC News Online, the crash happened near Chinhamo Bridge, a location just kilometres away from the previous week’s fatal accident. Their statement read:

“Several people were seriously injured when a Mercedes Benz Sprinter headed for Harare from Chitungwiza burst a tyre and veered off the road near Chinhamo Bridge… The injured have been taken to Chitungwiza Hospital.”

Public outcry has been growing, especially over the continued use of overloaded kombis and reckless driving along the busy Seke Road corridor. However, as of now, no fatalities have been reported in this incident.
