Trouble in Paradise? Mambo Dhuterere Accused of Abandoning Pregnant Wife and 4 Kids
The marriage between popular gospel musician Mambo Dhuterere and his pregnant wife, Mai Dhuterere, is allegedly on the rocks amid reports that he abandoned her and their four children.
Mambo Dhuterere, born Darlington Mutseta, could not be drawn into discussing whether he is still with his wife Dorcas Vambe.
Rumours suggest that the couple’s marriage is on the brink of collapse, with sources alleging that Mambo Dhuterere has not supported his family for some time now.
When H-Metro reached out to him, the artist didn’t confirm or deny the claims. He brushed off the issue, saying:
“Don’t mind them.”
It’s been months since he last publicly acknowledged his wife. The last time he posted about her was back in November 2024 on her birthday, where he affectionately called her “Queen.”
According to reports, Mai Dhuterere is battling emotional distress and appears to be going through a difficult time, both financially and emotionally. The family is struggling in their rented home in Harare, and despite owning a residential stand, no progress has been made on developing it.
When contacted for comment, Mai Dhuterere confirmed that her husband had indeed left.
She said she’s been keeping quiet for the sake of her health and unborn child, but the silence has become too heavy to bear.
“I have been keeping this to myself because of my condition. I don’t want to be depressed and end up losing our unborn child. It’s true that he moved out, but I am too weak as a woman to challenge him. Our kids desperately need him, and I am praying he will come back to his senses,” she stressed.
She added that although only a few knew what she was going through, the burden had become too much.
“There are a few people who know about this issue because I have been trying hard to conceal the matter. I don’t usually share our problems, but I have come to a point where I feel I have had enough. I still love him as the father of my children, but the abuse I have endured is too much,” she said.
She didn’t go into more detail, saying she was currently travelling and had company.
A source close to the family said the couple’s marital issues have been going on for years. However, Mai Dhuterere has been doing her best to protect their public image, choosing silence over scandal, until now.
