Lenon Gwara, the trusted hands behind Khama Billiat and many other top footballers, is heading to Istanbul, Turkey, where he’ll represent Zimbabwe at the World Massage Championship.

Gwara, who works as a sports masseur for both Scottland FC, Khama Billiat’s current club, and the Zimbabwe National Team, has received an official invitation from the World Massage Federation to compete among the best massage professionals from across the globe. The event runs from 6 to 8 June and celebrates excellence in therapeutic touch.

The organisers praised Gwara’s work in their invitation letter, saying:

“On behalf of the organising committee of the World Massage Championship, it is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that we extend this official invitation to you to participate as a competitor in the upcoming World Massage Championship. Your dedication to the art and science of massage therapy has not gone unnoticed, and we believe your skills, professionalism, and passion would be a valuable addition to this prestigious global event. The championship brings together the finest massage practitioners from around the world to celebrate excellence, innovation, and the healing power of touch.”

Entry Details and Recognition

The championship will feature a range of massage categories including Swedish, Sports, Therapeutic, Wellness & Spa, and Asian Freestyle Massage. There will also be video performance competitions showcasing styles like 4 Hands Freestyle, Chair Performance, and Tools Performance.

To take part, competitors are required to pay a €200 entry fee. They will also gain free access to a seminar titled “How to Improve My Performance in Championships”, worth €100, and will receive a certificate of attendance.

All participants will get a certificate of participation, while the six top finalists will earn a ranking diploma. Only the top three will walk away with medals.
