Victoria Falls residents have been left in shock after a man strangled his girlfriend with a shoelace and kept her body for two days in his house.
Bothwell Nkomo, a 28-year-old resident of Victoria Falls, has found himself entangled in a harrowing legal battle after allegedly taking the life of his partner, Amanda Dube.
According to the prosecution, on March 18, 2024, Nkomo engaged in a heated altercation with Dube, resulting in a fatal outcome. Reports suggest that during the altercation, Nkomo resorted to using a shoelace to strangle Dube, ultimately causing her demise.
Concealment and discovery of the body
Shockingly, instead of reporting the incident to the authorities, Nkomo chose to conceal Dube’s body within his residence for a chilling span of two days. It was only when a concerned individual, seeking out Dube, stumbled upon the grisly scene that the matter came to light.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the witness was looking for Amanda Dube. After going to the accused’s place in search of the deceased, they came upon the body in a gruesome discovery.
The witness immediately alerted the authorities, prompting Nkomo’s arrest and the subsequent recovery of Dube’s remains, which had already begun to decompose.
Judicial Proceedings
Following his apprehension, Nkomo appeared in court yesterday for his preliminary hearing. He has been remanded in custody until April 4, awaiting further legal proceedings.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has issued a warning to the public not to resort to the use of violence when they are not seeing eye to eye. This case serves as a reminder that violence is costly and can cost people’s lives.
