Kwekwe Man Detonates Explosives on Himself in Apparent Suicide
A shocking suicide case is under investigation after a 25-year-old man from Kwekwe ended his life by blowing himself up with explosives.
Talent Runi’s body was discovered in his rented room in Mbizo, Kwekwe, with his teeth the only remains recovered by police.

Bloodstained Scene and Unexploded Devices Found
Midlands Deputy Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Fungai Ngawagare, confirmed the disturbing incident — which occurred around 12pm on Independence Day — in a statement to The Mirror.
He stated that authorities are working to piece together the details of this tragic incident.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms investigating a suspected suicide case in which a 25-year-old Mbizo man was found dead in his room with his teeth blown out and blood stains all over,” Ngawagare said.
Police officers who responded to the scene reported finding bloodstains throughout the room, but no other identifiable remains, except for Runi’s teeth.
Cousin Discovers the Scene of Tragedy
The series of events leading to the discovery began when Runi, who had recently arrived in Kwekwe from Gokwe with his cousin Tinotenda Tsvangira, parted ways with him. Afterward, Tsvangira received a phone call from his aunt, who informed him that Runi was contemplating suicide. Alarmed, Tsvangira rushed to Runi’s rented room but found the doors locked. Desperate, he entered through a window and made the grim discovery of his cousin’s lifeless body, blood splattered on the walls.
Scene Reveals Unused Explosives and Matches
Upon reporting the death to the authorities, the police discovered explosives, including both used and unused devices, igniting cords, and a box of matches scattered throughout the room.
These findings suggest that Runi may have used the explosives in the suicide attempt, but only his teeth were recovered in the aftermath.
Investigation Ongoing
As the investigation continues, the police are seeking to understand the events leading up to Runi’s tragic death and to confirm whether the explosives played a central role in the explosion.
The loss has left the community in shock, as they await further details from the ongoing probe.
