Scottland FC Coach Breaks Silence on Khama Billiat’s Struggles
Scottland FC coach Tonderayi Ndiraya has shared his thoughts on Khama Billiat’s slow start to the season.
The former Kaizer Chiefs star has not made the expected impact since joining Scottland FC from Yadah FC at the start of the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League campaign. Last season at Yadah, Billiat delivered an impressive 24 goal contributions — scoring 13 goals and assisting 11.
But things have been different at Scottland FC. In eight games, Billiat has only managed one goal and two assists, looking like a shadow of the player he once was.

Despite the poor stats, coach Ndiraya has defended Billiat. Speaking after Scottland’s 1-1 draw with ZPC Kariba on Saturday, he said the team as a whole is struggling, not just Billiat.
“Well, I wouldn’t really want to focus on Khama Billiat alone, but my personal feeling is that the team has been playing very well,” said Ndiraya.

Why He Believes Players Are Struggling
He added that competition for places this season is much tougher compared to last year, and Billiat is feeling that pressure like everyone else.
“Competition has been very high for Billiat and everyone else. It’s different from last season,” he added.
Ndiraya also pointed out that the players are tired but praised their fighting spirit.
“I think if you look at our players now, they’re exhausted. We knew that was going to happen, but what was important for us was to get the results under those conditions. And I’m happy that the players did their best. They have always fought hard,” he said.
Fortunately for Scottland FC fans, the club won against Herentals at Rufaro Stadium 1-0 on International Workers’ Day.
