Zimbabwe’s Dynamos FC Target Top South African PSL Coach After Naming Ex-Orlando Pirates Star to Technical Team
Zimbabwean football giants Dynamos FC are targeting a highly-rated coach from South Africa’s Betway Premier League in a bid to turn around their struggling season.

This development follows the Harare club’s appointment of former Orlando Pirates striker Takesure Chinyama as their new strikers’ coach, announced on Tuesday, 6 May. Chinyama, who had brief stints in the PSL with Pirates and Platinum Stars, is being seen as the answer to the club’s ongoing goal-scoring woes.
Dynamos began their 2024 campaign on a high, clinching the Castle Challenge Cup, but have since faltered in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, which kicked off in March. After 10 matches, the Glamour Boys have only managed two goals, with just one win, five draws, and four losses.

Dynamos FC Target Top South African PSL Coach
In response, the club has reportedly rekindled interest in Kaitano Tembo, a former Dynamos defender who made his name coaching SuperSport United in South Africa. Tembo, who was recently moved to Sekhukhune United’s youth setup following the sacking of Lehlohonolo Seema, is now being considered for what would be his first coaching role on Zimbabwean soil.
While negotiations are said to be dragging, sources indicate that Tembo remains Dynamos’ top priority.
Despite this, the club has thrown its full backing behind the current technical team, led by head coach Lloyd Chigowe. In a statement, Dynamos called for unity from supporters as they undergo this transitional phase.
Once a dominant force in Zimbabwean football, Dynamos have fallen behind ambitious newcomers like Scottland FC, who have invested heavily in talent, including former Kaizer Chiefs star Khama Billiat and Walter Musona.
The last time Dynamos lifted the league title was in 2014 under Callisto Pasuwa, who is now the head coach of the Malawi National Team.
