Coach Dobson Praises Sacha’s Talent and Character

Stormers head coach John Dobson has heaped praise on Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, calling him a “generational talent” and highlighting the fly-half’s calm demeanour.

Despite being in charge of the team, Dobson admitted that Sacha’s brilliance comes naturally and not as a result of coaching intervention.

Dobson also lauded the young star’s personality, describing him as “a good guy” who remains remarkably level-headed despite the growing hype around him.

“I am the coach of the team he plays in, but I can’t claim to have coached him for a second. He is a generational talent.

He is such a good guy and so level headed.”

Managing the “Sacha Project” a Delicate Balancing Act, Says Dobson

John Dobson has opened up about the challenges of managing Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s game time, saying the biggest hurdle is keeping the gifted playmaker fit and on the field.

Probably our biggest challenge is to make sure he stays on the field.

That’s not something we control.

It’s nerve-racking stuff because he has done his knee twice.”

The Stormers coach admitted it’s “nerve-racking” due to the player’s history of knee injuries and emphasised the importance of protecting his body without compromising the fearless playing style that makes him special.

“We have to be very careful about his body without changing who he is.

You can’t say to him ‘Listen, you have been tackled six to eight times a game, it’s too much for a fly-half’ because that would take away who he is.

It’s a real tightrope the whole Sacha project, but brilliant to have.”
