“I Have No Probem With Winky D” – Wicknell Chivayo Says He’ll Support Gaffa If Approached Respectfully

Flamboyant businessman and ZANU PF loyalist Wicknell Chivayo has claimed he has “no problem” with Zimdancehall star Winky D—but insists the musician must approach him “properly” to be recognised. This comes after Chivayo was caught on camera secretly jamming to Winky D’s music, despite previously mocking him as an “opposition puppet.”

Chivayo’s Surprising Winky D Moment

A recently deleted video from Chivayo’s Facebook stories showed his car radio playing Kumusoro, a gospel-inspired collaboration between Winky D and Nicky Genius. Though Chivayo muted the original audio and replaced it with Jah Prayzah’s Ibvapo, fans quickly spotted the song details on the screen.

“It clearly shows ‘Kumusoro’ – a collaboration between Nicky Genius and Winky D,” said one social media user. “Why mute the sound unless you didn’t want people to hear it?”

This incident follows months of public tension between the two. In February 2025, Chivayo mocked Winky D on X (formerly Twitter), saying:

“TRUE STORY… aedza kutsvaga attention yangu but I’ve never offered him anything because he’s a puppet we opposition. Ngavaite GO FUND ME to him even a Rolls Royce Phantom vaone kuti kana inokwana AQUA inobuda here.”

“Recognise My Talent” – Chivayo’s New Stance

Despite his past remarks, Chivayo now claims he would acknowledge Winky D—if approached correctly. In a recent post, he said:

“I have never said handiterere music ya Winky and that he’s also a very good artist who commands a strong following. Problem nde yake hake aka tanga kundiimba iwe uno tenga butsu dzakawanda vamwe vasina sei?

“If he ever came and said Mukoma wangu we differ in our political party choice but please recognize my talent ini hangu HANDINA KANA PROBLEM naye… His poor handlers are bad influence.”

Fans were quick to react, with many dismissing Chivayo’s claims.

“Recognize my talent kudiyiko uyo? He is big with or without you,” wrote Esther WekwaChinoda.

“Winky D’s every song comes with a clear message—if the shoe fits, wear it!” added Tinashe Eugene Mushanguri.

Winky D’s Fiery Response

The dancehall star has never shied away from addressing his critics. In his Love Potion EP, Winky D appeared to take direct aim at Chivayo:

“Vanoti nemuzita rababa, apa ndofuti vaba, vhura meso hona ka, handitengeke nemota car.”
(They preach the word of God but they are the ones stealing. Open your eyes. I can’t be bought with a car.)

During his explosive Mbare performance in January 2025, he further declared his independence:

“Handitengese. Handisi Peter. Ndendiri zii, handina noise, handisi speaker ini.”
(I’m not for sale. I’m not Peter. I stay silent—I’m not the loudspeaker.)

While Chivayo continues gifting cars to artists aligned with ZANU PF, Winky D remains unshaken—and fans are loving it.

“Even Wicknell can’t resist Winky D’s music—who can blame him?” joked one fan.
