Wicknell Chivayo Finally Addresses US$100 Million ZEC Tender Scandal

Businessman Wicknell Chivayo has finally addressed the controversial US$100 million ZEC Tender scandal that has recently made headlines.

Recently, some information allegedly leaked by the FIC of South Africa was released on social media. In the documents, it was alleged that Chivayo had fostered a deal between RenForm and ZEC that earned him R800 million.

The accusation was that ZEC signed a contract with Renform to deliver election materials worth R1.1 billion. After Renform received the R1.1 Billion from the Ministry of Finance, it immediately paid R800 million to Chivayo-linked accounts.

These reports, unfortunately, appear designed to INSINUATE criminal conduct, corruption or money laundering in relation to LEGITIMATE commercial transactions and LEGALLY BINDING contracts involving companies affiliated with me.

He went on to explain that doing business with the government and receiving tenders is a common and legal business, and just because the amount is in millions does not mean that it is a criminal business.

Executing a contract with the Government and RECEIVING PAYMENT is very common practice and can never be seen as a crime. The mere fact that the CONTRACT PRICE runs into millions is neither EVIDENCE of any criminality nor a basis to allege corruption.

Chivayo then urged people to educate themselves on business and also government tenders before accusing someone of corruption.

Chivayo Denies Having Dealings With ZEC

In the same post, the businessman denied having any business with ZEC and shared that the commission is on record confirming they have no contractual relationship.

I also wish to reiterate and STAND by my same comments last year that I have NEVER had any business dealings with ZEC. The Electoral Commission is on record to confirm that they have had NO contractual relationship with me WHATSOEVER now and in retrospect.

Wicknell blamed exiled fugitives working with opposition politicians for attacking him as a businessman openly affiliated with the ruling party.

These baseless and nonsensical allegations against me are SIMPLY therefore part of POLITICAL VENGEANCE. They have NOTHING to do with whether contracts were lawfully executed, but EVERYTHING to do with who I am seen to stand with.
