Govt Closes Road Ahead of Trabablas Interchange Official Opening

The government has announced a temporary road closure as it puts the final touches on the highly anticipated Trabablas Interchange, set to be officially opened by President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Friday, 30 May 2025.

In a public notice shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, 28 May, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development confirmed that President Mnangagwa will lead the commissioning of the new interchange, previously known as the Mbudzi Roundabout.

To prepare for the grand opening and ensure the safety of road users, authorities said the Masvingo-Glen Norah Loop will be closed off from Thursday, 29 May to Friday, 30 May. The Ministry advised motorists to use alternative routes such as Amalinda Road during this period.

Mnangagwa to Commission Trabablas Interchange

In a statement, the Ministry said the temporary closure was necessary to allow final works to be completed and to ensure everything runs smoothly on the day of the launch. They also thanked the public for their patience and understanding.

Road Closure Notice: Masvingo — Glen Norah Loop: Trabablas (Mbudzi) Interchange Project

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development, through its Department of Roads, is completing final preparations for the official opening and commissioning of the Trabablas Interchange on Friday, 30 May 2025, by His Excellency, the President, Cde. Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa.

To ensure the safety of all road users and facilitate the smooth opening of this major transformative project, the Masvingo-Glen Norah Loop will be temporarily closed from 29 May 2025 to 30 May 2025.

During this period, motorists are advised to use alternative routes, such as Amalinda road.

The Ministry sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused and appreciates the public’s cooperation and understanding.

Minister Mhona Inspects Trabablas Interchange

Meanwhile, in preparation for the official commissioning of the Trabablas Interchange by President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Friday, 30 May 2025, Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Felix Mhona, led an inspection tour of the project site on Wednesday, 28 May.

He was accompanied by the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Barbara Rwodzi, and the Permanent Secretary, Engineer Pedzisayi Makumbe.
