Bonnie and Clyde? Vusi Matlala’s Wife Arrested For Helping Him Order A Hit On Ex-Girlfriend

Businessman and tenderpreneur Vusi Matlala’s wife has been arrested and is facing charges of helping him order a hit on his ex-girlfriend, socialite Tebogo Thobejane.

The bail hearing for Gauteng businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala took an unexpected turn when his wife, Tsakani, was taken into custody on Thursday night. The couple now remains in detention until their next court appearance scheduled for Tuesday, June 3.

The case stems from a shocking October 2023 incident where television personality Tebogo Thobejane narrowly escaped harm when assailants opened fire on her vehicle in Sandton’s upscale neighborhood.

While Thobejane emerged physically unharmed, her companion sustained serious injuries requiring extended hospitalisation.

Vusi Matlala And Wife Accused Of Ordering Hit On His Ex-Girlfriend

During Friday’s brief hearing at Alexandra Magistrate’s Court, the Matlalas appeared alongside two other defendants – Musa Kekana (35) and Tiego Floyd Mabusela (43).

Legal representatives successfully petitioned the court to prohibit media photography of the accused during proceedings.

Defence attorney Victor Nkwashu indicated his client’s willingness to surrender his travel documents as part of bail conditions. Meanwhile, counsel for Kekana and Mabusela requested their transfer to Johannesburg’s correctional facility, citing logistical challenges with their current detention locations.

Case Timeline and Future Proceedings

The alleged hitmen face a separate court date on July 11, with their trial expected to move to the Johannesburg High Court. Legal experts anticipate this complex case could unfold over several months as prosecutors assemble their evidence against all parties involved.
