“Wouldn’t Even Consider Dating Him” – SA Baddie Thuli Phongolo Speaks On Zim Tycoon Scott Sakupwanya
South African actress and influencer Thuli Phongolo has poured cold water on rumours that she is dating Zimbabwean gold dealer and Member of Parliament Scott Kupa Sakupwanya.
The speculation exploded online after controversial South African blogger Musa Khawula alleged that the two were romantically involved.
Phongolo responded quickly and clearly, telling her 3.1 million Instagram followers:
“Let me indulge you for a sec…
You guys need to stop trying to link me to people I wouldn’t even consider dating…
I am not dating Scott Kupa. The end.”
“He has not met these individuals”
Sakupwanya’s team also released a statement through his media management company, Lhalys Media LLC, distancing him from the actress and dismissing the rumours as false.
“On behalf of our esteemed client, Honourable Scott Sakupwanya, we clarify that recent reports alleging relationships with certain individuals are entirely false, as he has not met these individuals and has no intention of doing so.
His substantial Corporate Social Investment budget is exclusively dedicated to advancing youth development initiatives in Zimbabwe, with no funds allocated to any groups or activities that do not support the nation’s progress.”
The firm’s statement, released on 30 May 2025, comes just one day after the gossip storm began online.
Musa Khawula’s post sparked frenzy
The social media storm was sparked by controversial gossip blogger Musa Khawula, who posted on X (formerly Twitter) on 29 May 2025:
“Thuli Phongolo finds love at the arms of Scott Kupa.
This comes after Thuli Phongolo dumping her abusive ex-boyfriend DJ Maphorisa. Scott Kupa who is a businessman and a ZANU PF member of parliament recently purchased a Lamborghini for his new beau Thuli Phongolo.
Scott Kupa had previously dated Mihlali Ndamase before getting it on with Thuli Phongolo.”
The tweet racked up 1.6 million views and was widely shared, leading to speculation on both sides of the Limpopo River.
Another user responded sarcastically:
“Aowa Thuli, this is a downgrade… From The Leonardo to the street stalls down stairs?”
Both parties deny it
Despite the online noise, both Thuli and Scott have categorically denied being in any kind of relationship.
Phongolo appears to be focusing on her career, while Sakupwanya remains active in Zimbabwean politics and youth empowerment programmes.
No further comments have been made by either party.
