South African fugitive in the Wits Student murder case, who is on the run, reportedly fled to Zimbabwe, according to authorities.
South African law enforcement officials have issued an alert suggesting that a prime suspect in the brutal killing of a university student may have crossed into Zimbabwe. The development comes as authorities intensify their search for the remaining perpetrator in this high-profile case.
Double Suspects in Fatal Crime
Bongani Mthimkhulu, a resident of Zola in Soweto, stands accused alongside another individual for the murder of Olorato Mongale, a Wits University student. The victim had reportedly informed friends she was meeting someone before her tragic demise.

The other suspect, Philangenkosi Makhanya, was fatally shot by police during a confrontation at a residential building in Amanzimtoti near Durban on May 29. Before his death, Makhanya allegedly admitted to involvement in the student’s murder, according to police sources.
Fugitive Fled To Zimbabwe
KwaZulu Natal police commissioner General Nhlanhla Mkhwananzi revealed:
“Our investigation suggests one suspect may have fled to Zimbabwe. We’re currently verifying this information and coordinating with relevant authorities.”
Deputy police minister Polly Boshielo vowed relentless pursuit of the remaining suspect, stating:
“We will locate Mthimkhulu, whether dead or alive. This criminal network preyed upon women nationwide, and we’ve connected them to 22 separate cases of abduction and robbery.”

Authorities confirm that South African police have initiated formal communication with Zimbabwean law enforcement regarding the possible cross-border movement of the suspect.
