Ex-Dynamos Captain Ocean Mushure Neglects Daughter
Former Dynamos captain and Warriors defender Ocean Mushure has been accused of abandoning his 12-year-old daughter, with the child reportedly forced to drop out of school due to a lack of support.
Once a celebrated player who represented Zimbabwe in FIFA World Cup qualifiers and featured at the 2016 CHAN finals, Mushure’s name is now in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. The 39-year-old, who also had stints in Zambia with Lusaka Dynamos and Kabwe Warriors, is facing accusations of failing to take responsibility for a child he fathered outside his marriage.
Ocean Mushure Neglects Daughter
The girl’s mother, Noreen Sixpense, says the child was born from an extra-marital affair she had with Mushure. She claims that when the footballer moved to Zambia for his career, he initially supported her and their daughter by renting them a separate house, even though he was living with his wife nearby.
Noreen alleges that Mushure has failed to pay the US$150 monthly child support he was ordered to pay, with arrears now reportedly totalling US$5,400. She says that for the past three years, Mushure has avoided her efforts to get him to take responsibility.
Noreen explained that she sent the child back to Zimbabwe to live with her grandmother, but school attendance has been irregular due to a lack of support from Mushure.
“About three years ago, I sent my daughter to stay with my mother. She has been on-and-off school because Ocean is not paying for her school fees or upkeep. My child is now failing to blend in with other school-going kids, Ocean ari kuitira mwana hutsinye, achingotaura zvekunyepa,” said Noreen.

Mushure Responds to Accusations
Shanice Nyahoda, a relative helping care for the child, described Mushure as irresponsible. She said that while she manages to support her own children, she cannot afford to send Mushure’s daughter to school and can only provide food and shelter. The family now plans to report Mushure to the police for failing to pay maintenance.
When contacted for comment, Mushure initially denied knowing Noreen, saying:
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Noreen wamuri kutaura handimuzive.”
However, he later acknowledged having a child with her, but dismissed her claims that he has neglected the child for three years.
“Ehe ndine mwana naye asi zvaari kutaura handizvizive, akatora mwana about two to three months ago and we haven’t made any contact,” he said.
