Former SuperSport United Star Kuda Mahachi Ordered To Pay Maintenance For His Kids

Former SuperSport United player Kuda Mahachi has been ordered by the courts to pay maintenance for his two kids.

Bulawayo Magistrates’ Court has ruled against ex-Warriors winger Kudakwashe Mahachi in a high-profile child maintenance case brought by his former spouse, Marita Ndlovu.

The judgment delivered last Friday mandates the SuperSport United alumnus to pay $320 monthly for the upkeep of his two children.

Kuda Mahachi Ordered To Pay Maintenance

Provincial Magistrate Shepherd Mnjanja issued a split ruling requiring $200/month for the younger child and $120/month for the older child.

Mahachi is contesting the paternity of the older child and asking for a DNA test. He, however, is sure he fathered the younger child, and so that paternity is uncontested.

The court further instructed Mahachi to fund a DNA test to resolve the paternity question. Results could either eliminate his financial responsibility for the older child or potentially increase his support obligations.

Mahachi And Ex-Wife To Share Educational Expenses

Both parents were ordered to cover school fees and related academic costs jointly. Ndlovu had petitioned for $630 monthly, citing expenses for education, healthcare, clothing, and specialised care for their physically challenged child who requires wheelchair access and ongoing medical attention.

“My vending business barely yields $50 monthly,” Ndlovu testified. “Supporting a special needs child alone has become impossible, especially since he stopped payments in 2022.”

Legal Arguments and Counterclaims

Mahachi’s legal team contested the older child’s paternity and proposed $220 total monthly payment. The magistrate rejected this as inadequate based on the children’s documented needs.

“Should DNA exclude my client,” Mahachi’s attorney warned, “we’ll seek perjury charges for misleading the court.”

Ndlovu countered that confirmation of paternity should trigger defamation proceedings against Mahachi for publicly disputing their relationship.
