New Homes for All Police Officers: Zimbabwe Govt Launches Countrywide Housing Projects
The Zimbabwean government is rolling out new housing projects across the country aimed at improving accommodation for members of the security sector, starting with a major development in Harare.
96 New Units Delivered in Harare
On Friday, four new residential flats were officially opened in Harare under the Chimoio Camp Housing Scheme. Together, the blocks provide 96 housing units for Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers.
Authorities say the Harare development is just the beginning.

Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe confirmed that similar housing projects are being planned for other regions. He said President Emmerson Mnangagwa has made it clear that police officers should be living in proper homes, and the government is acting on that vision.
“It is an ongoing project, and we are going to roll out such projects countrywide. The President has made it clear that our Police officers must have decent accommodation. I can confirm that there are ongoing projects, including in Dotito in Mashonaland Central province,” he explained.
Praise for Mnangagwa’s Broader Infrastructure Push
Harare Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Senator Charles Tawengwa, also took the opportunity to heap praise on the president, not just for the housing project but for other infrastructure upgrades in the capital.
Tawengwa listed several high-profile developments, including the recently commissioned Trabablas Interchange, which he said had eased traffic congestion and reduced accidents. He also highlighted the Geo Pomona Waste Management project as another example of Mnangagwa’s commitment to modernisation.
“Your commitment to modernising Zimbabwe’s infrastructure is truly unparalleled, Your Excellency, two weeks ago, we witnessed the commissioning of the iconic Trabablas Interchange, a transformative project that has already significantly alleviated traffic congestion and reduced accidents. The other day, Your Excellency, we also witnessed the commissioning of the Geo Pomona Waste Management,.Thank You Your Excellency,” Senator Tawengwa said.
